More veggies

The peppers have just started to grow. They have flowers now since temperature is in the 28 degrees Celcius. I only have one butternut squash so far. It's very pretty.

Trees

The backyard has some trees too. My favorite one is the banana tree! Now the bananas are green. I can't wait to try them! We also have tangerines, lemons, plums, figs and grapes. there's an avocado tree as well. It's so huge I cannot even take a picture!

Herbs

I have lots of herbs in my garden. They are very handy when you are cooking. They are very easy to grow. They don't bring you any problems! I have tyme, oregano, basil, mint and rosemary.

Flowers

My mom has a beautiful garden too. When you go to the garden or backyard you always find new flowers blooming!

Enjoy the pics!

Butterfies are awesome! I always run to grab my camara whenever I see one!

Other veggies

I have a little bit of everything in my garden. I have squash, cabbage, eggplants, peppers, lettuce, spinach, and even corn! The picture below is the squash!

This is the lettuce. Snails love lettuce so I need to be careful. I was told I can combat them with beer! They must get drunk and forget what they came in for ;-)

This is spinach (acelga). I planted them too late, I think and now they have flores. We are hoping they'll still keep growing!

Green beans - chauchas

Green beans were fun to grow. I started with a germination. The prohuerta program distributes seeds to whoever wants to grow a garden for free!

Green beans grow very fast and pretty soon I had these little plants. I was told they need a lot of water!

Now my plant has flowers already! I have 8 plants total so I'm hoping to eat great salads in summer!

Mermeladas artesanales- Home-made Jams

I recently started making home-made jams to sell in local markets. Everyone that tasted them said it was so good that encouraged me to produce them for sale. It's been a lot of fun! My mom is also helping and we are getting ready to sell them at a local market.
It all started with my mom's big plant of loquats! The loquats jam is very yummy!
I also made blackberry jam and my mom made her specialty jam: A top secret recipe! Here's what they look like. Email me if you want to try them!!

Strawberries - Frutillas

The queens of my garden are the strawberries. They are so pretty and taste good too!

I have two plants. One I bought at the Flower Festival in Escobar and the other in a local market! The flower is pretty too!

Mis plantas de tomates

Back two months ago I had the idea of planting some tomatoes and peppers since my mom has a big piece of land. I'm learning a lot about gardening. It's been so much fun!. Here's what my garden looked like when I planted my first tomato plants.

Now they are all grown up! I've been taking classes through the "pro-huerta" program. I highly recommend the classes. People there are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Today I was so happy to see that one of my tomato plants has a little tomato! This is the first one! Wow! I can't wait to taste them!

Most of the tomatoes have flowers though!
